In May 2007, after five years on the AIM program, the Bir family were appointed as missionaries to Paraguay. Joey was appointed the national president over the work in 2010. He has been involved in overseeing the work in general, as well as administration, organizing conferences, traveling, teaching in the Bible school and pastoring the central church in the capital city area of Lambare.

Cristina has been involved in the national ladies ministry as the director of promotions and as the children’s ministry director. She organizes children’s camps and activities throughout the year and works in the financial administration of New Heights School. This school started as a weekly meal and Bible class for needy children and has grown into the Fred Scott Memorial Educational Complex that presently has 250 students. The Birs’ have been led to change their appointment to the country of Chile.
