In October 2012, Chris and Penny Gibbs, along with their children Caleb and Jacie, received their missionary appointment to “The Warm Heart of Africa”, Malawi. Over the last thirteen years, the nation of Malawi has seen 39,327 beautiful souls filled with the Holy Ghost, 250 new churches built, 400 students graduated from Apostolic

Bible College, the pastors’ wives training seminar instituted, The Gethsemane Conference started to train the top fifty leaders of the nation each year, and the UPC of Malawi grown to over 55,000 constituents and over 750 churches. While in Malawi, the Gibbs family traveled for about 40 weeks of the year across the nation, teaching and reaching for souls. They trained, equipped, and saw tremendous growth while focusing on the District Conferences and mini crusades. They were instrumental in developing a church in the Refugee Camp where there are over sixty thousand refugees from seven different African nations.

Chris and Penny were appointed in 2015 to serve on the “Vision 4 Africa” team. Chris served as Campus Ministries Africa Coordinator and Penny served as Promotions Coordinator for Africa. As Campus Ministries Coordinator for Africa, Chris is always looking to engage campus ministries groups from North America and abroad to invest, equip, and encourage college age students across the African Continent. As Promotions Coordinator, Penny, along with a team, developed the “Africa Forward” Branding, helped with designing the Africa Forward website, and created the Africa Forward social media pages to connect the American churches to the African continent with daily revival reports and prayer needs across Africa. In 2020, Penny resigned from her position to focus on other ministry needs in Malawi.

In 2023, The Gibbs were appointed as UPCI International Evangelist with their focus on the African Continent. Thus fulfilling a thirty-year calling for evangelism. Over the last two years, they have traveled to fifteen different countries, preparing nations through evangelism training, holding evangelism-focused services, providing printed evangelism materials, hosting Zoom training sessions, leading prayer walks, conducting altar working seminars, Campus Ministries training, and services to small or large crusades. Their goal is to see every church in every nation from tiny villages to massive cities explode across the African Continent with Apostolic revival and retention. The Gibbs family truly believes that, “Evangelism is not an event but a lifestyle.” In June of 2024, the Gibbs family relocated from Malawi to Johannesburg, South Africa as a base for evangelism to better serve the African Continent.
