After marrying and serving a two-year AIM appointment to the Leeward Islands, Steve and Kari Shirley received their missionary appointment in 1988. However, Steve’s missions experience began many years earlier as he grew up as an MK to the Leeward Islands. The Shirleys have served as Field Superintendent for the Dominican Republic since 1991. In this capacity, they administrate and supervise the national work, organize national events, and conduct ministerial and leadership training around the country. Bro. Shirley is the President of the Bible school, and Bro. and Sis. Shirley both supervise and teach in the main campus in Santo Domingo as well as its seventeen extensions.
They have hosted numerous church building groups and have been involved in building more than seventy churches. The Shirleys serve as Field Superintendent for the Leeward Islands, as well as Area Coordinator of the Spanish Caribbean. When they return to the field for their eighth term, their focus will be coordinating the work in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, and the Leeward Islands for greater revival. They will also be traveling the region to conduct leadership and ministry training.
