Steve and Cheri Smith received their missionary appointment to Guyana in 2001. Steve has served as the Superintendent of the UPC of Guyana for most of their time on the field. Cheri has served as the Ladies Ministry President for several years, seeing this ministry raise record offerings to assist in the work of God. They both have taught in the Bible school, with Brother Smith serving as President of the Apostolic Bible Institute of Guyana. They have also pastored the headquarters church in the capital city of Georgetown for the past 20 years. During their last term, they completed a brand-new Bible School Training Center, saw new churches and preaching points started, and buildings built. They also began working on a new UPCG Campground site, which they hope to see become a reality during their next term.

During the last term, they witnessed hundreds of souls water baptized in Jesus’ name and hundreds filled with the Holy Ghost. The ministerial body has doubled, and the number of churches and preaching points has also almost doubled during the last two terms. God is moving, and the Smiths are believing for a continued outpouring of the Holy Ghost and a greater harvest of souls.
