When the Stephen O’Donnells arrived in Hong Kong with the U.S. State Department in April 1984, they knew they were in God’s will. Even as Conquerors Bible College students, they both desired to work among Chinese-speaking people. So while employed by the diplomatic corps, they worked as self-supported AIMers. However, when the U.S. government planned to reassign O’Donnell to another location, they applied for full missionary appointment so that they might devote themselves full time to the work of God. They received their missionary appointment to Hong Kong in 1987. They were on location when Britain handed over Hong Kong to China, taking advantage of the situation to offer the hope of Christ to those who felt they faced an uncertain future.
