Scotty and Krista

Scotty Slaydon was born in Louisiana, March 2, 1967. He was baptized in Jesus’ name on March 21, 1982 and received the Holy Ghost on March 24, 1982 at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lafayette, Louisiana. In 1985 he attended Jackson College of Ministries and graduated with highest honors in 1988 with a degree in Theology/Missions.

After graduation Brother Slaydon served as Assistant Pastor to the First United Pentecostal Church in Lafayette, Louisiana, for one year. In November 1988 he received an Associates In Missions appointment to El Salvador, and in May 1989 began his three and a half years on AIM there. In October 1992 at the Salt Lake City, Utah, general conference, Brother Slaydon received career missionary appointment to El Salvador.

While on deputation in 1993, he met Krista Jawn Forgues of Elyria, Ohio, and on July 8, 1994 they were married. Brother and Sister Slaydon were deeply involved in many aspects of the work in El Salvador. Sister Slaydon ran the elementary school, was choir director of the local church, ran the national bookstore and spoke at many different ladies’ events in El Salvador and Central America. Brother Slaydon was director of the Bible school, national director of two radio stations, co-pastor of Centro Vida with more than 1,000 members, oversaw the medical clinic and travelled extensively in national evangelism.

In June of 2002 Scotty and Krista were blessed when they adopted Abigail Janae Slaydon. The Slaydon family continued to work in El Salvador until January 2006 when Brother Slaydon became executive assistant to Brother Bruce Howell. Brother Slaydon has served in this capacity since that time and will continue to do so until January 1, 2009.

Since 2007 Brother Slaydon has served as the Director of Compassion Services International.

At the 2008 General Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina, Brother Slaydon was elected Global Missions Secretary and has served in that capacity through the present.
